Sometimes, life is hard. Really hard. And as much as we’d like the Holy Spirit to take us by the hand and whisk us out of the war, it’s much more likely that what we are experiencing is indeed entrusted to the mystery of God’s holy plan in our life. This week’s intention is about reminding ourselves of God’s promises in a time and within a world that is quick to convince us otherwise.

In a world where the negative seems like the norm, I will remember that God is good.

When sorrow for what was turns to despair of what will never be, I will remember that God is love.

If my circle has grown smaller, and I am lonely, I will remember that God is with me.

When I am lost, and the way forward is murky at best, I will remember that God is my true north.

When joy returns and light and laughter fill my life, I will remember that God saves.

In trial and triumph, God is my strength and my shield.

Through overwhelm and overcoming, God holds me in the palm of His hand.

For whatever comes next, God always goes before me.

Thanks be to God.

Amen.

“We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.”

Psalm 33:20

To rest instead of hurry? To worship instead of wander? If you thought to yourself “yes” for even a second, this week’s intention is for you.
