It’s easy to coast through life and never go deeper than a surface relationship with just about everyone… our spouse, our friends, our co-workers, and even God. This week, examine your life through the lens of your availability and your vulnerability. Are you brave enough to learn to love – to really love? To forgive? To surrender your control? To rest instead of hurry? To worship instead of wander? If you thought to yourself “yes” for even a second, this week’s intention is for you.
September 10, 2001, was a normal day, only, I was tired. I’d been working what seemed unruly hours to my 24 year-old self and hadn’t run errands, rested, or gone to get my physical in who knows how long. But, I was living the city life. New York had a captivating energy, almost like the pure oxygen that they pump into the casinos. It allows you to believe that you can run and run, and never have to stop. That day, though, I realized that I needed a time out. Just to get a few more hours of sleep and tend to myself. So, I requested a personal day the following day. The following day was September 11th.
We pray for You to calm, dissolve, or re-direct Hurricane Dorian so that all life is spared. Send your holy, warrior angels to form a hedge of protection around the families living along the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida coasts. Protect them, Lord, and their property from destruction. Keep them safe under the wings of your angels until danger has passed.
